![]() ![]() You may get Aperture priority stop down metering but you won’t get the use of the auto diaphragm. The MD lens flange mount distance is 43.5mm while Leica R is 47mm which means for your MD mount lens to focus to infinity it has to be 3.5mm closer to the film than the normal R4 mount, then you have the issue of mirror clearance and auto diaphragm pin and lever interference. ![]() You are going to find it hard, according to Wikipedia en./wiki/Lens_mount#List_of_lens_mount_types If I can convert the R4's mount I get to use my favourite rokkor's on my favourite camera XD /R4 with a motordrive, The Leica R4 has a motordrive and at the moment the R4's are selling cheap I guess people are buying them for the Leica lenses to put on digitals. But it lacks the motordrive which is why I have a X-700. I have many XD's, I view them as the best Minolta camera. And if You need a spot meter, buy a Minolta one. Although I see an alternative approach:Īn XD can be found for pretty little money. The only reason I would hold on to an R4 is if I have or intend to get Leica lenses, altering the mount may be possible but the value of the camera plummets unless its reversible, besides the Leica is based on the Minolta XD anyway or is it the other way round?
